Notes for Howard Milton Larkin
H.M. Larkin, 22, dies when carrier leaves road:

"Operator, who is blieved to have gone asleep at wheel, buired under load of ties:

Howard M. Larkin, 22, of 5237 North Yale Street, was killed at daybreak yesterday when his truck left the road near Clackamas and he was thrown beneath a truckload of railroad.

Oregon City officers reported that Larkin was making his last trip to Portland carrying ties from Estacada when he evidently was overtaken by sleep at the wheel. The truck ran into a creek bed alongside the road, while Larkin was hurled beneath his dislodged cargo. The body was brought to the Bruning Mission mortuary in Portland.

Larkin was a graduate of Benson high school and had recently gone to work at night trucking.

He is survived by the widow, Phyllis; a son, Marvin Dale, 20 months; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Larkin, 5241 North Yale street, and two sisters, Eunice and Sybil."10
